Moving Around the Gallery

By Barbara Eastwick

Level: Beginner, just getting used to the RAKScraps Gallery

Like everything with the Internet, and even with computers, once you know the "little trick" to do something, it's much easier from there.  This tutorial will cover some of the basic activities on the RAKScraps Gallery.

Leaving a nice comment on someone's layout is one of the foundations of RAKScraps.  We love to create and we also love to share, and it's wonderful when people take the time to say they enjoyed our work.  "Leaving Love" in the gallery is not only kind, but a great way to build your post count!  Fortunately, leaving a comment in the gallery is a user-friendly activity.  While viewing the RAKScraps Gallery, click on a layout you especially like, you will now see that layout larger, and below the layout you will see the member's write up of her layout, and possibly other people's comments, immediately below that you will see a text box.  Place your cursor in this box and begin typing your comment, and click "submit".  That's all there is to it - thank you for leaving love!

How do you see the last comments you just received on your layouts?   Well, any time you are in the gallery, you will see a menu bar that reads:  My Photos * My Albums * My Favorites * [Number of messages].  Click on the number of messages you have, and the last 15 messages will appear.  I suppose it is possible, but I've never heard of it happening, that someone may want to remove a comment.  To do this, click "remove" in the box to the right of your comment.

To view a Member's Gallery, click on her username, and click "Photos".  This will show you her entire gallery, in chronological order, starting with the most recent.

To search for a layout by keyword or username, click "Search" from the same Gallery menu bar - On the right.

This will bring up the search menu, with many options.  You can search for a specific layout that you've seen before by using a keyword and/or the User's Name.  You can also specify how far back you wish to go by specifying a date range .  Fill in the appropriate fields and click "Execute Search".    The search engine does require a little bit of time in between searches to clear the old search and prepare itself for a new one.
