Journaling Challenge with BernadetteJournaling is one of the most important things for our layouts, but can be the hardest! Kay's challenge will help you write about your memories! Starts on the 1st of the month.
I've been rumaging through some old photos my mum gave me at christmas time, and repeatedly asking the question - when was that? And having to guess the ages of the children, and guess the season by the clothes and activities etc.
So this months challenge is to put a date on your layout. There are lots of creative ways to do this, here are a few ideas and examples to get you started:
on a ribbon with a slider - example (one of Jan's layouts that I love to scraplift)
nice and bold in a title
When you've finished your page, please upload it to the Journaling Challenge Gallery, and put a post in this thread so we can all come and admire your work.
Anyone uploading a page for this challenge by the end of the month will recieve a participation prize. It colour co-ordinates with other prizes being given out for challenges this month.
Ah haha... you know what this reminds me of? Years ago I read an article in a craft magazine where the authoress admitted to having "leftovers" after she sorted out the baby pictures of her three brunette, blue-eyed children. That's right--not just a matter of forgetting the dates. She solved this problem by just evenly distributing the leftover pictures among the 3 kids for scrapbooking purposes. Thank goodness, that I have a redhead, a blond, and a brunette, I thought at the time. I'll never have this problem.
Years later, I was sorting through my photo boxes.... I discovered that my youngest sister, my daughter, and myself were all beautiful blond babies. That looked a lot alike. What was worse, mom had saved some really nice outfits (those carters really don't wear out) from me, used them with my sister, and since they were still in beautiful shape, gave me to me when the only grand daughter in the family was born. Yep, three identical babies in the same clothes. Now for most of mine there are some visual clues--some of the photos are printed in older style, and some are in our old house. But others are in next house my parents bought, and mom still lives in--as are many of the pictures of my sister and daughter. Worse, mom and dad collected old cameras, and a lot of the pictures of all three babies are printed the same, since they were on specialty film. Honestly, when I was finished I had a pile of pictures of three different possible babies, out of which I couldn't identify which was which. So I panicked and called mom. Mom would know.
Mom listened to my tale of woe and then said... "Thank goodness someone else has the same problem! I thought I was going senile or something."

Dim Everything as Object
If Everything Is Nothing Then
MsgBox "This is a paradox of the Object-Oriented universe."
End If
Angela - you're right - dates are so important to include on LOs. My MIL wrote dates, names of people, and the etc. on slides we got from my FIL's house. I'm so grateful for her doing that as they were slides from when my husband was 4 - and he's no idea of the specifics in them.
I'll be working on a few LOs this weekend - and shall update this post with one - with a complete date [I usually just have "month/year"] for this great, and timely, challenge.
